Why Lock the Terminal?
By default, biometric terminals allow any registered user to access the settings menu. In most deployments, you want to restrict this to admins only — so employees can clock in but can't change device settings.
Method 1 — Before Fingerprint/Tag Registration
- Log in to the TimeClock 365 web portal.
- Navigate to Users.
- Select the user you want to designate as device administrator.
- Open the Terminal Details tab.
- Change the permission level to Super Admin and save.
After this, only that user's fingerprint or tag will unlock the device settings menu.
Method 2 — After Fingerprint/Tag Registration
If employees have already registered on the device, you need to back up their data first before reconfiguring permissions.
- Go to Settings → Terminals.
- Select the terminal.
- Enable Query Tag Numbers and Passwords and Query All Fingerprints.
- Save — the system will sync the existing data.
- Then follow Method 1 to set the admin permission.
Testing the Lock
After saving, try accessing the terminal menu with a non-admin fingerprint. You should see an "Access Denied" or "No Permission" message. Test with the admin fingerprint to confirm it grants access.
